ECSA attends High Level Conference - "EU Health Programmes: results and perspectives"

Call for action

The conference, organised jointly by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Consumers and its Executive Agency, was an opportunity to look back at the work of the first two Health Programmes and to discuss priorities for the third Health Programme.

On this occasion the results and success stories from the first and second Health Programmes were presented. The European Child Safety Alliance's "Child Safety Action Plan" was one of the programmes which had been funded by the EU Health Programme, and ECSA Director Joanne Vincenten shared the results of that project.

Further discussions aimed to build a consensus for the future third programme which is currently under discussion at the Council and in the European Parliament. EU Health Commissioner John Dalli emphasised the importance of keeping health central to all EU policies, stating "We must keep health at the heart of European policy."

Over 700 participants attended, including policy makers, key actors from the health sector, NGOs, Member States and European institutions, health programmes' beneficiaries, scientists and academics from the EU.
