The European Child Safety Alliance is a Programme of EuroSafe and is hosted and supported by the Consumer Safety Institute in The Netherlands.
The mission of the Alliance is to advance child injury prevention throughout Europe by enhancing the quality of children's lives through the power of reason, solidarity and compassion.
Press release 10-12-08 Launch: World, European and 'child-friendly' child injury reports
Three landmark resources are being launched today by the World Health Organisation and UNICEF to bring forward key facts on the impact of injuries on children and call for immediate action. At the global level WHO and UNICEF are launching the World report on child injury prevention and a child friendly version called Have Fun, Be Safe. The WHO European Office is also launching a European focus child injury report. Press release 14-07-08 Launch: New water safety guidelines launched
The European Child Safety Alliance and EuroSafe today launched a document entitled “Protecting children and youth in water recreation: safety guidelines for service providers” in cooperation with Commissioner of Consumers, Meglena Kuneva, and Chair of the Internal Market and Consumers Protection Committee, Arlene McCarthy. Drowning is the second leading cause of injury death to children in Europe. Children and youth are at increased risk of drowning or being injured in the water while on holiday. Yet according to the European Child Safety Alliance, most these injuries are preventable with basic safety measures that can be supported by water-related service providers. Click here to read more.
Child Safety Report Cards for 18 Countries launched in the European Parliament
Major review of child safety in 18 countries in Europe launched in Brussels by the European Child Safety Alliance. The launch took place in the European Parliament on November 20th and was hosted by MEP Arlene McCarthy, Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection with participation from the European Commission, UNICEF and WHO. Child Safety Action Plan
We are currently leading the second phase of a a multi-country EU funded project, the Child Safety Action Plan in partnership with WHO-Europe, UNICEF and HEAL (Health & Environment Alliance) and over 30 country partners. Information on CSAP I, which ran from 2004-2007, is available here and more information on CSAP II will be made available in the coming weeks.
